Fayre 2013 Total

We are really pleased to announce that this year's Rotherfield Summer Fayre raised £1573 towards the work of Rotherfield St Martin.

Thank you to everyone who came along and bought raffle tickets, and to all the other groups and organisations who joined in holding stalls or activities on the day.

We would particularly like to thank the Kings Arms Inn for hosting the event, Rotherfield Enterprises Ltd for sponsoring some of our publicity, our local Tesco Community Champion Amy Murphy for helping provide refreshments, Kennedy Brothers for donating a prize for the raffle and being stalwart supporters of the Fayre and Rotherfield St Martin, and to David Beardsworth for providing our top Raffle prize this year.

Thank you to Mark Cross CE Primary School for demonstrating the lovely Maypole Dancing, and to Rotherfield Primary School for singing.

Thanks also goes to The Mayfield Silver Band for playing as the fayre opened, and to the Hot Potatoes Band, for performing such a great selection of folk music throughout the afternoon.

Thanks too go to our stallholders, whose support and pitch fees helped to fund the production of the Fayre, including...

(I hope I didn't miss anyone!)

The Rotherfield Fayre really could not have been taken place without the help, support and encouragement of all these different groups, organisations and people working together to produce such a great community event.

Advertising Sponsorship from REL

Peter Chambers of Rotherfield Enterprises Ltd has very kindly agreed to be a Fayre Sponsor this year, helping us with the costs of producing our large advertising boards, which will appear around the village shortly.

Peter is offering a free tank of fuel with every car purchased by anyone holding one of the leaflets he has given us in the RSM Centre - So drop in and buy some Raffle Tickets and pick up a leaflet from us at RSM before popping next door to buy your used car from REL.

REL have a website at and they also have a Facebook Page at, where you can see a whole range of used cars for sale.

Bouncy Castle Booked

I have made another step forward today with the booking of a bouncy castle for the Summer Fayre.

This (or one quite like it) will be what we get on the day, supplied by 1stchoice Inflatables at Staplecross, along with a lovely rope for the Tug-of-War event too.

We are looking for helpers to volunteer to be attendants on the bouncy castle, so do please get in touch if you can help out on the day.

Publicity Launch

Display at the Bonfire Society Easter Fair - 29 March 2013
We launched our major publicity drive today with a stall at the Bonfire Society Easter Fair.

With 113 days to go, on this snowy cold day the summer seems as far away as ever, but we took this opportunity to hand out our little business-card sized reminders.

The water rocket on display created lots of interest, both from people who entered rockets last year, and from many newcomers, and I was able to hand out loads of my Build-a-rocket guide to potential entrants.

We handed out piles of leaflets about the Fun Dog Show too, with many people who missed last year's competition saying they would be interested in entering this year. 

We're hoping the news of this year's event will start to spread now, but we still have a long way to go and will be circulating information and leaflets as widely as we can after the Easter break.

We are beginning to take bookings from stallholders now, and have several firm bookings already. I'll be sending out the first invoices after the Easter break, but for anyone who might be interested in having a stall, just drop us a line at the email address, or call Andy at the RSM Centre.
